Meet our savvy 3D Feel in the best virtual fitting room!

Straight to the point

sewing machine to the rise of e-commerce. Like tech, fashion is forward-looking and cyclical.

And today, fashion technology is growing at a faster pace than ever.

Robots that sew and cut fabric, AI algorithms that predict style trends, virtual dressing rooms that calculate size, and an array of other innovations show how technology is automating, personalizing, and speeding up the fashion space.

Sizebay, over the past five years, has also gone through different versions of its main product, the Virtual Fitting Room, making sure that innovation and the best size and fit technology is kept in its DNA.

Each new feature launched has gone through an intensive co creation program with our clients and aligned with our customer needs. User experience must be at the forefront of any new development, specially when talking about fashion ecommerce.

User Experience and a good personalization capacity is critical for a business to help shoppers overcome “analysis paralysis”, a phenomenon where too many options leave one unable to make any decision. Accenture found a worrying example of this in their research – “nearly 40% of consumers have left a website because they were overwhelmed by too many options”.

So in response to this ever demanding market, SIZEBAY has recently launched a few new features that will impact the customer experience and their interaction with our Virtual Fitting Room and YOUR product.

The 3D experience

The feature which we have called “3D Feel” is a response to the shoppers need to see their body better represented in the tool.

Customers who used to argue that “my breast is bigger than that, but my butt is a little smaller” now have 1250 customization possibilities, compared to the 270 that existed.

In addition, we created a new way to convey the comfort and fit of clothing items inside the fitting room, by implementing heat bands highlighted by colors and texts such as “ideal”, “slightly tight”, “slightly baggy” and “wide”.

This 3D feature is complementary to our  fitting bars and fashion e-commerces will be able to opt for one or the other at first.

This update brings more autonomy to the customer and provides a totally different experience, as they will be able to better mirror their body in the Virtual Fitting Room.

Considering the importance of this identity element in the recommendation (which generates more trust), we developed a way for customers to adjust even more their identification. Keep reading!

Adjust skin tone

After the user enters their weight, height and age in the Virtual Fitting Room, the algorithm determines body measurements according to the standard Body Mass Index (BMI).

Although our model is assertive, each person can have a different mass distribution than the standard profile of the model. So we ask users to distribute their body mass accordingly and then our algorithm can cross compare with the garment  Measurement Tables of the brand.

With this step we are not only understanding the shoppers body measurements, but also giving the customer during the shopping decision more security with the choice.

Sizebay has shown in many different ecommerce clientes how security positively impacts some of the main kpi´s, such as Average Ticket and Conversion Rate.

It is this identification with our body inside the virtual fitting room that the new feature seeks to improve.

With this new feature, the user can change the body skin tone. This information is saved in this user’s navigation cookies in the same way that the estimated body measurements are saved and so enables size recommendation in new products that the customer chooses.

Just as we deliver reports for our fashion e-commerces clientes where we include the most recommended product, for example, with this feature we will be able to show what is the skin tone identified by customers.

With the arrival of this feature, which we are so very proud of, we needed to expand our service coverage. And that’s how the last feature we will talk about today was launched!

A virtual fitting room for accessories!

Our clients that sell accessories challenged our product team to develop this new feature and together we launched this month a feature that will help many, many accessory brands that wish to grow their sales online. Accessories such as rings, helmets, caps, hats, wristbands, gloves, cuffs, leggings, belts, socks, bretelles and even bicycles can now use the virtual fitting room.

To develop this feature, we carried out different studies to understand the experience of trying these products in a physical store, so we could translate the experience successfully into the Virtual Fitting Room.

For this, our algorithm needed some adjustments so that recommendations for caps or helmets, for example, that process only specific head measurements and not other body measurements (which are traditional in a regular fitting algorithm).

Now, the Virtual Fitting Room is able to recommend a size for any product that depends on body measurements.

And, when we improve the e-commerce shopping process we know that simplification is key without compromising the quality and quantity of information needed to help the customer make a decision.

With that in mind, we’ve added features to the fitting room that will change your customers’ checkout!

Browse between photos and add to cart directly in the Virtual Fitting Room

Any ecommerce manager knows the golden rule of online shopping: a shopping journey and UX must be fast, reducing steps to buy, in other words “one click to buy”. This motto can be found well implemented in sites like Amazon and Shopify.

It was with this in mind that we created other functionalities for the Virtual Fitting Room: we now include a button “ add to cart” directly next to the presented size  recommendation, also allowing the user to navigate between different photos of the product while still inside the fitting room.

This decreases the amount of clicks required for the user to make the purchase decision: they can browse more photos and add to the shopping cart right after receiving  their size recommendation and while still inside the virtual fitting room.

Now it’s even easier to buy online, wouldn’t you agree?

These new features have the ultimate goal of increasing your sales results and that of 450 brands that currently use Sizebay’s Virtual Fitting Room.

The upgrade of our client stores to include these new features is being carried out in stages.
